It is located in the northeast area of Cusco between Apurimac, Urubamba River and the Salkantay Mountain (6271 m.a.s.l.). Vilcabamba offers you the unique opportunity to trek in an amazing environment full of glaciers, green mountains, bears, condors, tarantulas, etc. This cloudy forest was an area that worked as a refugee and a natural fortress for the movement of resistance of the sixteenth Inca against Spanish invaders that were trying to take control of the Tawantinsuyo in the XVI century. The costumes and the typical clothing of the local people reflect the mixture of two cultures. Its language and its textiles with decorations Inca and Pre-Inca which is why one can notice the Quechua influence they have.

Vilcabamba is also a place where one can find many Pre-Colombian architectonic constructions, including Choquequirao and the famous citadel of Machupicchu. There is a road chain which connects Vitcos, Rosaspata and Espiritu Pampa.
